The first settlers (6000 years - 2500 years)

The first settlers came to the Segarra from small groups of human beings who were living in the caves that existed to the Pyrines 6.000 years ago. They were villages of farmers and ranchers, which were burying his dead men of a peculiar form, excavating a smelting to land and  with a few big slabs, in which also provisions were depositing couple.

2.500 years ago the Segarra it enters a cultural process that ends with the training of the Iberian culture.

Ibers and romans

The first time that was spoken of the Segarra like toponym, it appears in a funeral tablet where it is already spoken of the Municipium Sigarrensis.

Of the Roman time there are frequent remains especially in riverside places.

Medieval time

The physiognomy of the current Segarra has its origin to the Medieval Segarra (starting from the XI century). Of people that lived to the district around the Roman cities and also under the Visigothic domain too much thing is not known.
